An Indispensable Friendship

Before reading this article, I only knew that there was one type of friendship. After reading the article, i learned that there are three types of friendship. The three types of friendship is selfish, superficial, and real friendships. A selfish friendship is a friend that expects you to do solve their problems for them. A superficial friendship is a person that often makes us fall into materialistic behavior against our better judgment. In a real friendship you are willing to share all kinds of sadness and joy with your friends.

Narrative Story- Easter Day

Easter is very important holiday for Greeks. Greek Orthodox Easter usually lands on a different day than Catholic Easter. I come from a big family. My father has a lot of cousins and they mostly all live in New York. On Easter Sunday, all my family gathers at one of my cousins' house and we celebrate. There is a lot of food and alcohol involved. The ladies are usually in the kitchen cooking and the men are outside drinking beers while watching the pig and lamb roast on the spit. Most of my cousins are guys so they are usually playing either football or soccer. When I was little I would play with them but now they all are bigger and I am afraid to get hurt. Easter is my favorite holiday because I don't get to see all my family everyday like I used to. A couple of them got married and have real jobs now so I only get to see them on holidays and special occasions. Easter is the one day of the year I know I will see everybody and we will have fun like we used to when we were little.

Before reading the article, I knew that alot of children are addicted to the Internet. After reading the article I learned that it is more likely for children to be addicted to the Internet if they are depressed, hostile or have attention deficit, hyperactivity disorder or social phobia. Research suggest that 1.4 percent to 17.9 percent of adolescents are addicted to the Internet. Boys are at a higher risk of the Internet addiction than girls and those who used the Internet for more than 20 hours a week are at higher risk.

Before reading "Eye Communication" the only thing I knew about eye communication was that it tells you if the person is listening and paying attention to the person speaking. After reading "Eye Communication", I learned that eye communication is eye contact. The average length of gazing is 2.95 seconds. When eye contact falls short it means that the person is uninterested, shy or preoccupied. When eye contact is exceeded, then it shows high interest. In the United States eye contact is considered honesty and forthrightness. In Japan it is lack of respect. Every country believes eye contact means different things.
